Arturo is a Spanish filmmaker based in London. In January 2018, he released his first directorial feature documentary, 'Hard as Indie'. The film tells the story behind the spanish film 'The Cosmonaut' and the three filmmakers who made it happen. It was well received by viewers and critics alike, getting great coverage in Spanish national media. 'Hard as Indie' is available for free on www.hardasindie.com.
He co-directed with Paul Romero Méndez the short film 'Ruth', starring Ania Marson and Leslie Ash. The project was selected by Directors UK and ARRI as part of their 2020 TRINITY Challenge. The short has been selected in multiple festivals, including BIFA and BAFTA qualifying film festivals.
In October 2020, he was selected as a finalist for the Sir Peter Ustinov Scriptwriting Award with his TV script 'Grasping at the Shadow'. The annual international competition is organised by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.
Arturo also has experience working as 2nd Unit Director both in documentary and fiction. He’s currently working on the Spanish/Italian co-production Ídolos in that role. The film is due to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures España in late-2025.
As an editor, he has worked in highly acclaimed productions by multi-awarded directors like Michael Winterbottom, Mat Whitecross, Tom Dumican and Alex Holmes. He's edited music videos for bands like Coldplay and Smith & Burrows, as well as the documentary 'End to End', starring George Ezra and currently available on Amazon Prime UK.
