Transmedia Webseries, directed Nicolás Alcalá & Bruno Teixidor
In 1967, two young friends, Stas and Andrei, arrive to the newly built Star City (near Moscow) where the first cosmonauts trained to go into space, and where a race against the clock to beat the Americans into space takes place.
Stas and Andrei will witness first-hand the political plots, the fights for power and the successes and failures of the Soviet Union in some of the greatest achievements of the 20th century.
Along the way, they will meet Yulia, a communications technician, with whom they will strike up a strong friendship, always close to love but never consummated.
The Cosmonaut is a transmedia project consisting of one feature-length film and 36 additional episodes of varying lengths. The transmedia expands on the film's experience, offering different perspectives and complementary information to the main narrative. It was the first crowdfunded film project in Spain and helped pave the way for the creation of Lánzanos, Spain's equivalent to Kickstarter.
The project was fully licensed under creative commons and was released simultaneously on TV, in the cinemas and for free on the internet, something uncommon back in 2013.
The Cosmonaut: The Transmedia Experience was the name given to the full transmedia experience. I edited five of the original 37 episodes. Originally available online, the episodes are now difficult to find online. Nonetheless, the five episodes I edited are available below.
